Wapping Gallery

Wapping was a real hidden gem for me. It’s on the waterfront, has an ancient history, and contains lots of parks as well as inland waters which were once part of London docks and have been sympathetically adapted. The Old Whitby pub which I’ve marked, is the oldest riverside pub in London and it really is fabulous. There’s a tiny room where they used to have boxing matches!
St Katherine’s Docks, a lovely place for a coffee or meal close to the Tower of London
St John of Wapping Schoolhouse
London’s oldest riverside pub, the Prospect of Whitby is a maze of atmospheric rooms with riverside views. Well worth a visit.
There’s plenty of evidence of former times when Wapping was a hub of busy wharfs for worldwide commodities. This is restored Tobacco Wharf.
This walk will take you past all the nices bits, but do detour into some of the lovely parks too.
