Leafy Chiswick has a lovely riverside walk and the historic Chiswick House and Gardens. Chiswick High Road is a busy main road, but brightened by cafes, restaurants, independent shops and boutiques, fruit and flower stalls and some brilliant charity shops Atmospheric Sunday markets on the High Road are well worth a visit. When I went there was a brilliant steel band playing live music. Markets alternate between flowers, cheese and antiques. There are leafy green common areas behind the high street with playgrounds for kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a lovely walk taking in a bit of the High Street, Chiswick House and part of the riverside walk.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This walk with alternatives features picturesque Strand on the Green. Start here (nearest station is Kew Bridge Overground) and walk to Chiswick House, you can now either head up to Chiswick High Road or continue to rejoin the Thames path. The map shows jump-off points at Chiswick Park, Turnham Green and Stamford Brook tube stations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Chiswick House built in 1720s, prime example Palladian architecture. The beautiful and interesting gardens are open to the public, there is a charge to enter the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALTERNATING MARKETS<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name Chiswick stems from the Old English “Ceswican” meaning cheese farm and so it is apt that a cheese market is held here every third week, alternating with flower, and antique markets. Great atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
